About us
MBKA has been supporting beekeepers in and around the Medway Towns for over 100 years. We aim to promote and encourage the craft of beekeeping through education and shared experience.
We welcome all members of all ages and level of experience. Our teaching apiary on the Hoo Peninsula is open to members and offers a great place to learn and get involved.
We hold regular meetings, run training sessions throughout the year, and publish a monthly newsletter to keep everyone connected.
The Yellow Legged Asian Hornet
What to look for:
The Yellow-Legged Asian Hornet (Vespa Velutina) was first recorded in Europe in 2004, arriving in France via a shipment of pottery from China. Since then, they have spread rapidly across the continent and are now crossing the channel into the United Kingdom.
